Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The file added to the system should not contain any information that would allow the reviewers to identify the authors. Do not include authorship, affiliations, or acknowledgments.
  • The article (even if it is a review) must be presented in full format containing: Title, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Material and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. (Note that: Title, Abstract, Keywords, and titles and captions of tables/figures must be presented in both Portuguese and English, regardless of the submission language.)
  • Tables and figures should be added at the end of the document, after the References. Only indicate their position in the text (e.g., [Insert Table 1]).
  • Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is not permitted. We recommend that authors inspect the document before submission.
  • The maximum number of words allowed is 6000.

  • Author information, author contributions, and acknowledgments should only be provided after the approval.

  • Tables and figures should be placed at the end of the manuscript after the references, and their position in the text should be indicated as: insert Table 1 here; insert Figure 2 here. They should be numbered with consecutive Arabic numerals, cited in the text in parentheses (Table 1), (Figure 2). Titles should be self-explanatory. The data source should be inserted at the bottom (Source:). Titles should be written before the table and after the figure. Figures containing subgroups should name the subgroups with uppercase letters (without parentheses and without a period after the letters) in the upper left corner of each subgroup. • Equations cited in the text should be numbered in sequence and in parentheses (Equation 1). The equation number (Eq. 1) should be right-aligned. Below the equation, identify the symbols with units. Do not insert equations in figure format; use Microsoft Word’s “equations” tool for this purpose.

  • Measurement units should be presented according to the International System of Units (SI).
  • Footnotes are not accepted.
  • APA style should be used for references. These should primarily be recent and from scientific articles published in indexed journals.
